Pinned a number on today for round 8 of SWCX league at Exeter Bike Park hosted by University of Exeter Cycling Club. Its been about a year since I last raced after cutting least season short with a mix of illness and lack of funds. I hadn’t planned on racing this season for the same reasons. My head really wasn’t in the game at all and was generally feeling pretty low about it plus a lack of fitness added to the mix.
Then helping organise the National Trophy at Torbay Velopark again a couple weekends ago gave an opportunity to talk with a few friends about the season. A good chat with @ricjamieson_66 and also a catch up with @nick1craig really helped. They both said to just get back to riding and racing for fun. No expectations, no pressure. Just get the love of cross back and work on next season. With a few training rides and zwift sessions done over the last couple weeks, it was time to line up at the back of the vet50’s. It was probably one of the toughest courses to start my season with but I was just happy to ride around, dial in the skills again and not fall off. I wasn’t last, although honestly wouldn’t have been worried if I was. It was a hard race but just had to pace myself and keep moving forward. Was great to be back riding around a muddy field and seeing everyone again.
Next up, National Trophy at Clanfield next Saturday and SWCX rnd 9 at Newnham. Going all in for the latter end of the season I guess!

Just about getting over a long weekend of helping organise round three of the National Trophy Cyclocross with @woodger1 and @middevoncc at Torbay Velopark. A brilliant weekend with the best racers from around the country giving our course a proper seeing to! Some mega-fast lap times in all age categories. Thanks to everyone who helped us deliver this awesome event for the third time. Next up is the @swcx_league Regional Championships using the same course. But maybe with more mud.
Was cool getting some footage with the @djiglobal Neo. For a tiny drone it really does a cracking job in the air.

Some more from September and after clambering around Helvellyn in the Lake District it was off to the South Downs with the Zeus crew to help Berry Bros & Rudd walk 100km of the South Downs Way in 3 days. As well as walking I was again armed with cameras to shoot the challenge. The BB&R team raised over £170k for @myname5doddie fight against MND. Was great to see @davyzyw and the Berrys gang again after last years ride event.
